Re: [Xbox] Re: need some help

PC's aren't on all the time, though they really should be. And I'll
agree ICS is laggy on MP games without question, but I wouldn't
call it totally crappy. It does function, I had it working several ways
to feed a 360 with reasonable results - but obviously hardwire is
best whenever possible.

But first I had a Verizon aircard (ya, I'm one of the first to get VZW's
'beat it ya moron' boot letters for redefining the word "unlimited") that
I jacked into a PCI card slot reader on my tower. ICS'ed off that to
the 360 and my laptop, even a wireless router - all ran just fine. Now
the 360 doing like CoD3 or GoW - forget it. Ping times obviously
sucked big #$$. But, running like FFXI with it's small packets, that
worked like a charm. I could even upload websites in a reasonable
timeframe, but of course I had to find a copy of VZW's software
interface to turn off that damn acceleration package that was worthless.

I've also used AT&T DSL to a Wireless G laptop and then cabled
off that to the 360 at 100Mbps and again, pings on heavy-duty
multiplayer weren't anything to write home about but they DID work
far better! I could at least attach to game servers, etc. and play
without major lag or dropouts. Now that was on Vista, not XP, tho
I think they haven't monkeyed with ICS that much in either case, no?

So ICS works, ain't my first (or 2nd or 15th) choice but when you
absolutely, positively gotta have a Net hookup - it's functional without
major hassles.
