I'm 100% with Pogo on this one. It's the Sony attitude and it's not like it's
something new for them. This goes back nearly 30 years when they
demanded the world bow down before them and take Betamax up the
ying-yang. I worked in TV back then, Sony made the unquestionably
best video gear on the market for the 3/4" tape everyone was using to
bring you what you saw on the News, TV, etc.
But that wasn't good enough. Someone invented VHS and they couldn't
handle giving up the 'new' home market no one owned. Instead of just
embracing the format and making machines like they did for the Pro's
(they didn't invent the 3/4" Pro format either) it HAD to be their way and
they HAD to be #1 - period. Tried the same backdoor deals they won
with on the HD-DVD war.
Remember the Memory Sticks? MMC, SD and more beat the crap
out of them too and Sony ate billions.
So there's nearly 30 years of history of bullying, backdoor-ing and
BS from Sony. I'll admit the PS2 was unreal, had one myself. But
like Pogo said - last one till I win one. MS ain't perfect, Nintendo's
certainly not as powerful, but at least they just tell you up front they're
going to tell you they love you and buy you dinner before the fun
begins!
