Personally I would  have preferred an option to choose slightly longer loading times via the dash  to reduce the noise, I know it can do it as when the 360 has loading problems  it spins the drive down slower but it NEVER had caused a game to have  problems loading the data fast enough - it just makes it a LOT quieter.  Also  the speed difference is marginal between super noisy drive and fairly  reasonable dB drive.  Of course they probably could also have built the drives better to reduce the  noise as we already know they skimped on those, which is what makes them  ultra sensitive to moving the console with a DVD in the drive. Sorry man.. Quinn was correct with one statement: "the system would fail if not for that drive." that's true, and the numbers prove it. As soon as people found out that HD-DVD was dead that's when sales started to pick back up.
