My "incorrect assumption" is based on the facts around me. I don't know a single person who uses IE. Not ONE. At least half of them have gone through the trouble of removing it entirely from their machine(s).
Again, I have 2 PCs for everything you listed there. And it really seems that laziness is what is making people feel the "need" to have a Browser on their 'box. "God forbid i have to get up"....seriously?
Then again, maybe I just don't spend as much time in front of the 360 or the computer to need it all in one place. Besides the fact that you can only use one at a time....unless you know a way of using the 360 to do two things at once. With your PC ( and whatever browser you choose ) you can have both if you are one of those people who can't live without being "connected" at all times.
I don't mind if anyone else wants it. Honestly, I don't care if you want it or not. I speak for myself and that's all I did. I also reiterate the sentiment of everyone I have spoken to about it and they feel the same way. I'm not trying to make you not want it....because, again, I wasn't asked what YOU want - nor do I care.

I don't think IE is too bad these days, but I prefer Firefox because I can run
that on any OS with more or less the same results.
I have a PC right next to the HDTV but when I have just been playing a game,
or especially after watching a movie, sometimes you want to just fire up a
browser without leaving your seat, although quite rare. But how many people
have the PC exactly next to the TV?
I do know my friends like to quickly check the sports results without having
to mess around with the PC. Especially if they had just been playing FIFA
and were about to leave, or while changing games. Just as I see them use
messenger TONS on the 360, you really miss it when on the PS3. (which
ironically has the browser)
There are many occasions when a browser on the console is useful. Especially
as there's a LOT more information on xbox.com than they offer on the
dashboard/marketplace. Can't say I'm that bothered personally but then I
have a Wii, PS3 and the PC hooked up to the TV so its not like I am missing a
browser on the TV.
