and such as well?
Rock Band is about $170ish and comes with the wired Stratocaster
Guitar controller, the wired microphone and the wired drum set. That
does allow 3 people to play at once - but one's gotta sing. No one
seems to have the guts to pick up that mic, so it does tend to sit quite
a bit! LOL But Father/Son on Drums/Guitar can work.
Rock Band and Guitar Hero are the same concept - play a simulated
instrument and match the beats of the colored 'triggers' that stream
down a screen at you to score points, etc.
But Guitar Hero's a little simpler, has the multiplayer head-to-head
or co-op mode if you have a 2nd guitar and for the same $170 of
Rock Band you can buy GH III or GH Aerosmith with the WIRELESS
Les Paul controller and get another LP wireless guitar too as the
first set is $100ish and the extra guitar is $70ish. No drums, but
it's a whole lot more compact and the wireless lets them play further
back from the TV and you to be able to put it away when they're
done and leave it lying around! LOL
Rock Band, that drum set stays together and takes up space,
can only go so far from the game console it's hooked up to So
that's another consideration.
Both can be very fun! But to me GH's 'triggers' are a whole lot
easier and I see people scoring a whole lot more points and
enjoying the game than with Rock Band. Especially the drums,
you have to hit the pads and the foot pedal together to get really
good on it and that's a bit of coordination for some folks (like ME).
Guitar Hero's next version's on the way sometime this year or
early next and they're supposed to have the same drumset and
more like Rock Band. You'd have to buy the game obviously
but I believe I read any controllers you had for the older Guitar
Hero stuff should be compatible so you don't lose money on
them.
Hope this helps, once you said buy today I figured you were
looking for the real dirt on both of them since that's a bit of an
investment and you don't want to end up with one that'd sit
there more than get played!
