[Xbox] RE: [gamers_for_life] New Xbox Experience game installation caught on video

So if it still needs the disc in the drive to play the game what does it do?  Will it spin the drive enough to just check if the disc is active, to make sure you have a legal license to prevent everyone from installing from the same CD,  and then stop spinning and let the HD do the rest?  Or will it still spin?

I know this sounds like a stupid question but I’ve seen some lame software in the past.

I’m almost sure it won’t keep spinning the CD but just want to make sure.  If it works as I think it should this would be great in reducing the noise (at least) and maybe reducing the heat but I don’t think a spinning CD creates a lot of heat to begin with.

I wonder if this will bring down the price for the 120Gb drive or drive it higher because of higher demand?  Doesn’t matter to me anymore because I bought a 120Gb drive about 2 weeks after I got my box…

We don't know how it happened, but the New Xbox Experience interface has been leaked to the webs and is, bit by bit, making its way to us in video format. One of the more interesting new features is the ability to install games to your console's internal hard drive. On display in this video: the installation (spoiler alert: it takes a while!), checking the memory footprint (spoiler alert: it's a whole DVD!), and launching the game (spoiler alert: you still need the disc in the drive!). Crap, we've spoiled the entire thing for you. If you can muster any interest in the video now, you'll find it after the break.
