Re: [Xbox] Microsoft Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Officially Discontinued

Here's a little trick... Can anyone confirm that the HD-DVD Add on player
upconverts SDTV DVD's? Better than just playing them in the internal player?

If it does a better job, plus it's totally external therefore
reducing the amount
of heat generated playing DVD's in a 360 (geeze, get a player for normal DVD's?)
I'm all over one of these during the panicked sell off for next to
nothing! Nice
upconverter eliminates the need for a DVD player at that TV plus I'd never have
to worry about DVD play shortening my 360's life from the overheating during
playback.

I don't do that now, but it would be nice to take the VCR/DVD burner off that
TV since it's gathering dust and get it back out where we have a few VHS's
and watch TV to burn on DVDs as a DVR!

Tiger Direct (I don't endorse'm, trust me) is dumping new Toshiba players
for $90 w/5 discs (of whatever was produced for the short run). But if people
are going to firesale the 360 external unit AND MS gives it a warranty I'm in
the market! LOL
