Re: [Xbox] Fable 2 achievements reward players for chicken kicking and orgies

Why do some people miss the point that a GOOD selection of achievements can
make a game much much longer than it would be otherwise? Or entice you into
a type of game you wouldn't have otherwise been interested in.

Granted it doesn't make a bad game good, but it does make a good game even
better.

Burnout Paradise being a good example. If there weren't a lot of the
achievements on that game I would never have gotten into the game at all.
Because its so different to Revenge my first impression was that I hated it.
However the more I played it the more I liked it, and going for the
achievements allowed me to play the game even when I was annoyed at having to
drive backwards and forwards between races, etc. Thanks to that I have
somewhat come to terms with the annoyance of driving back to retry an event
if I fail it. I'm not exactly happy about it, still think it was dumb and
annoying, but not enough to stop me playing the game.

An even better example would be Oblivion as the achievements make you do all
the side quests. I already know one person who played the PC version and did
NONE of the side quests and complained the game was too short. Perhaps he
would have thought otherwise had he played on 360 where he had to do the side
quests for the achievements. (not that I agree with him, if you didnt do the
side quests you cant complain the game was short)
