Re: [Xbox] Inside Xbox Problem

I never said I did calibrate it right. I only calibrate to what looks good to
me, not standards. The LG however is supposed to be pre-calibrated almost
perfectly to certain Blu-ray players according to reports online from people
who checked it using something like video essentials or whatever its called.

I found before I packed it up that sticking it on Cinema mode and cranking the
backlight on to full (I hate Cinema brightness even in the Cinema, its too
dull and makes me tired) looked fine to me for Blu-ray playback.

But anyway yeah my Samsung probably is not optimal whereas the LG pretty much
is out of the box. It doesn't alter the fact that the LG is 2 years newer
technology and an IPS panel rather than the PVA the Samsung has, so will
always look a damn site better than the Samsung. This is heavily helped by
PAL Half-HDTVs stupid habit of being 768p instead of 720p and only accepting
720p or 1080i/p (my Samsung does not support 1080p input, slightly too old)
over HDMI.

Going back to the Samsung feels REALLY laggy. On the LG you can pan the
camera around in GTA with fairly good clarity, the Samsung on the other hand
makes you dizzy and hard to see with a clearly slower response time - either
the panel or software, probably both.

We could argue about which manufacturer is better, quite frankly it would be
silly as I make no claims to know. I just know the LG panels I have seen
look "good enough" to me and Vizios are only sold in the US from what I can
tell. A friend of mine has a "budget range" 37" 1080p HDTV and I didn't even
realise it was 1080p because it looks like ass. The colours are terrible,
its dull, just about any bad point you care to name. Plus its not as if
Inside Xbox is worth buying a different TV for even if it WAS the TV at
fault, which I doubt it is.
