Re: [Xbox] RE: [gamers_for_life] Yahoo! Answers

uh, u can pirate games on all consoles, and download and burn hd-dvd and bluray movies.  trying to stop piracy is stupid, since someone always finds a way around it, all it does is make things more difficult for the people who honestly purchase the stuff

Replication, that's kinda amusing. "Blu-ray is better because its bigger", yeah but if you are just replicating data to compensate for the poor seek times then you could be wasting a LOT of that space and so destroying that benefit. That said, I am sure 50% of the reason Sony wanted to use Blu-ray was piracy issues with the other 50% being to made money off movie sales. The benefits of more disk space will never have been a major factor. I do like how quieter the PS3 is and how Blu-ray are almost impossible to scratch though. Its a good format, I never doubted that (was obvious it would at the very least have survived on PC for backing up purposes), but I always figured it was a bit premature using it for PS3 games. Being FORCED to install games really really sucks though. Its the main reason I stopped PC gaming as I would always find the game I wanted to play wasn't installed and didn't have enough space to install it. On the occasions I DID have the disk space to install I would lose interest while waiting for it to install. Worst of all being The Sims 2, you ever tried to install that with a few addon packs? It literally takes HOURS, and there are about twice as many addon packs now as when I did that. I am very much a pick up and play gamer. Having to wait before I can play a game is a real turn-off to me. Alex. On Tuesday 22 July 2008 13:52:06 PRoPHeTiZeR wrote:
mgs4 uses all of the space. and some other games that don't install replicate the data several times to lower seek times finding it, because bluray drives are slow as shit right now <http://www.us.playstation.com/PSN/Users/PRoPHeTiZeR> Alan K. Martinez wrote:
All PS3 games are on Blu-Ray? OK, I'm humiliated... How much of the disc is actually used then? All of it? Shouldn't there be more content in a game then? Thanks for setting it straight though... I don't like spouting mis-information myself... *From:* Xbox@yahoogroups.com [mailto:Xbox@yahoogroups.com] *On Behalf Of *Nelson (nelzp) *Sent:* Monday, July 21, 2008 4:16 PM *To:* Xbox@yahoogroups.com *Subject:* Re: [Xbox] RE: [gamers_for_life] Yahoo! HDMI 1.2 to 1.3 has nothing to do with color richness. Name a game that has come out on a Blu Ray Disk. His comment about graphics for multi platform games are starting to look better on a ps3? So before they looked like crap and are just now looking better? Hmm... why? Why didn't they start out looking better to begin with? I'm not sure but if developers are going to first write on a PS3 and then port to an XBOX doesn't that mean the PS3 is the lower common denominator and that they have to write on the weaker machine first and then improve on the ports? PS3 is a true HD console and the 360 has to upscale? Can someone elaborate? 360 has already been maxed out in potential with GoW? FFXIII has already been announced for the 360. And how is GTAIV better on a PS3 than a 360? It's the same game isn't it? Am I wrong on a few of these? Is there any more?
