Re: [Xbox] RE: [gamers_for_life] Yahoo! Answers

I believe what actually happens most of the time on PS3 games is they use
uncompressed audio and include higher resolution/less compressed cut scenes.

Neither of those things make or break a game for me. For a start my surround
kit only handles Dolby Digital or DTS anyway so it STILL has to be compressed
down before being output from the PS3.

Of course it means no re-compressing but that's a minimal difference in sound
quality yet a significant amount of data you then have to install on the PS3
hard drive because Blu-ray aren't fast enough to stream all that data (PCM
audio and game data, etc) direct from the disk.

As for GTA, it does look "different" on the PS3 as I have compared them
myself. The drawing distance seems greater but in some respect that also
less realistic as you get a sharp image into the distance, unlike real life.
I do quite like that myself (as when you are looking at something it wont be
particularly blurry even in the distance as you are focused on it) however I
still slightly prefer the higher resolution of the 360 version. This is
mainly due to it being up-scaled to 1080p by the 360 so looks less blocky
than the PS3 version which leaves my TV to do the upscaling instead, nowhere
near as well as the 360 does.

Alex.
