[Xbox] EA Sports shows how Madden 09 is actually different

http://feeds.joystiq.com/~r/weblogsinc/joystiq/~3/300185921/

If there's any criticism we've heard about EA's Madden NFL series time and time again, it's that since EA got the monopoly exclusive rights on the NFL license, the only thing that seems to change about the game year after year is the number at the end. Whether it's the doing of EA Sport's new head honcho Peter Moore, or some new vigor at EA Sports, the company is definitely looking to show that Madden NFL 09 is improved.

Above you'll find EA showing off the differences between Madden 08 and 09. We've placed several other videos showcasing new features and animations in Madden 09 after the break.

[Xbox] THQ delays Saints Row 2 until October 14

http://feeds.joystiq.com/~r/weblogsinc/joystiq/~3/300277678/

THQ has broken our gold-plated hearts (and teeth) by announcing that it will delay the launch of Saints Row 2 until the company's third quarter, from the August 26 release date announced just last month until October 14.

According to Reuters, THQ cited marketing issues and product quality as the reasons for the delay, making us hope that the nearly two extra months of development will give Volition enough time to stamp out those remaining bugs. Additionally, while THQ believes that the delay will not have a negative impact on the company's fiscal 2009 performance, given the publisher's recent pink slip party and $35.3 million loss in fiscal 2008, there's really nowhere else to go but up.

[Thanks Bo]

I just assumed that I was doing it wrong and didnt bother with messing with it but now.., Am i gonna have to go through this crap? Wow.., Im not looking forward to that AT ALL. Now that I waited until the 90 days are past Im prolly gonna have to deal with MS now. YAY yall know how fun that is. Anywho. Im glad that it worked out for you. Cheers and happy gaming.

Ok gang I finally got it going and here is the sequence of events for today.
I got home around 12:30 PM (noon) from my part time job, the grandson was on the Xbox playing with it hooked up to the Ethernet. I told him to call his friend and let's go and get his wireless adaptor so I could see if it would work on our system. He calls his friend and is told he cannot come over, I tell grandson to ask him if we could borrow the Wireless Adaptor just long enough to see if it would work on our system and his grandfather (he is being raised by his grandfather also) said "No". This upset me a lot as I wanted to get to the bottom of this today.
OK, I cannot get his adaptor so I drive out to Wal-mart armed with five pages of Adaptor complaints I downloaded off of the Xbox forum last night. This would be the 3rd exchange and I figure they would give me some static about changing it again. I showed them the print outs and they read a few lines and very quickly change out the adaptor for me. They now only have one adaptor still hanging on the rack and they tell me that they do not have any in inventory so if this one does not work there will only be one more for me to try assuming they will exchange it for the 4th time.
I get home and we try the 3rd adaptor and zilch, Natta, Zippo, same stupid thing. The wireless settings are not highlighted. I am now really frustrated.
The telephone rings and it is my grandson's friend, he can now come over but his grandpa will not let him bring his adaptor. He lives all the way across town so I drove over to get him and I have a talk with grandpa. When grandpa learns that he and I are in the same boat, that is we both are raising grandkids he sympathizes with me and tells his grandson can take his adaptor and let me try it on out Xbox. We get home and plug in his adaptor and it works like a charm. His grandpa tells me to quit messing with Wal-mart and just call Xbox and give them a piece of my mind and they would probably send me a new adaptor along with a refund for my trouble. I thought about doing this but my grandson and his friend talked me into going back out to Wal-Mart and for the 4th time exchange it for the last one they had. Now this time it took a little longer to convince these people that the previous three were bad but they did change it out for me.
We came home and hooked it up and it immediately highlighted the wireless settings in the wireless mode. We typed in the WEP code from off of the bottom of the 2Wire Home Portal and was instantly connected. Was I ever relieved. My grandson has retired the Ethernet cable and is running strictly off of wireless.
It took the 4th Wireless Adaptor before I found one that work. I have at least brought the local Wal-Mart store up to speed on the adaptor problem.
I want to thank each and every person on this forum for all of the help you gave me, you will never know how much I appreciate all of you. I would have probably go insane before I got it going had not you folks calmed me down and steered me in the right direction.
You folks are a great bunch of people and you have restored my faith in mankind.
God Bless each of you,
Paul

Ya in that case I'd opt with Nelson's advice and take it back, exchanging
it for one that's a totally different serial/batch because if you've
tried all the
ports that's about the best you can do.

One question, anyone there know another person with a working adapter
you could borrow and test with? I know not everyone has'em but it sounds
like the main player knows others and may be able to snag one for an
hour to see if it fires up and confirm you've got some coming from a bad
batch. It's not impossible but the repeat trips can drive you nuts! Might
even want to find out about exchanging it at a different location to help
ensure you end up with one from another batch/delivery.

Othern' that from the screen shots everything else is in place and things
should be working fine. I haven't seen the newest version that you have
but usually the second any adapter's plugged in that set of settings
screens should light up regardless of a successful connection or not.

Sorry we couldn't find another culprit but hopefully we've narrowed it
down to the cause!

Heh… now that you got it working and we fulfilled our scout requirements you're now free game for ridicule and verbal attacks like the rest of us!!!

Just kidding…

I find it interesting that your local Wal-Mart had 3 adapters fail.
