Circuit City offers HD DVD for Blu-ray trade in - Image 1

It seems we may be seeing the dust settle from the format wars. Circuit City is allegedly having a trade-in promo, allowing their customers who bought HD DVD players to trade the devices in for Blu-ray players (even if the device was bought several months before).

The deal was supposedly advertised in the Circuit City forums. However, online customer care seems to be denying the promo, although the promo has been confirmed by Circuit City customers and other sources.

The promo goes that a customer can exchange their HD DVD players for a Blu-ray one (with the customer paying the difference in price), or they can exchange it for a gift card that's worth the original purchase which they can use to buy, well, anything else.

You can try your luck yourselves and give us the skinny on this. Assuming, of course, that you want to exchange your HD DVD player. After all, if there was any time to buy affordable hi-def movies, this would be it.
