[Xbox] CoffinWatch '08.1 - The Conclusion

<sigh> Well I must've received the one made seconds after Proph's
as a replacement because this one has a Mfg date of 3/2006. So I
got a mish-mosh, a refurb, no HDMI or anything else. Plain Jane as
it were, though I have to check but it appeared to be a Premium Disc
tray front and I swore we'd sent back a core.

Beyond that, nothing exciting and since the box came FedEx it
wasn't mangled like the UPS guys love to do. We seem to have
picked up a decent Ground guy around here - finally!

Fired it up, works just fine, rather quiet actually in comparison to
Proph's note of a louder sound. At the moment it didn't want to
connect to XBox Live to recover a Gamertag (long story) so there
could be network issues but the moron I had crank it up and test
it also thought it was cute and appropriate to simply rename the
existing Gamertag on the HDD to match what should be there for
where we're putting this box instead of recovering it. Idiot. So I'm
hauling it home for the weekend myself to fully test it and ensure
it's OK or MS needs a good rubber hose job. <Grin>

All in all what, 3 weeksish? I believe it was 2/05/08 when they
issued the ticket to UPS for the coffin, took a couple days and
then we lagged a couple more until the 10th to ship it back out
to MS. Ok, so about a month but I can forgive nearly a week
due to one holiday in the way and our putzing off 3 days for 100%
defect testing before it shipped out to be totally sure.

Live card in the box, as usual, so hey it could be worse!

Thus ends CoffinWatch '08.1, hopefully there isn't 8.2!
