__._,_.___Excellent! Mine's stayed the same so it'll be tomorrow for sure sadly. Well see they aren't selling it as new. It wasn't sent to me as 'new'. It was mfg'd so close to when they sent it to me it couldn't help but be new, no way in that short time period to have been distributed, sold, returned, returned to MS and anything else done to it. Save possibly like defective power brick or something? Regardless, it was sent to me as a replacement unit and not in original factory packaging. Best you could hope for would be the balance of your original warranty period, some States allow that, but 90 or 365 days - sucker was still 'used'. I'm just happy as a clam their system thinks it's a 1 year! I'll take what they're giving... Still curious to see what's going to pop outta the box this time tomorrow though! Nothing stated as to what you'll get back. It's their option to repair or replace and replacements carry the 90 days now (apparently, maybe always was?). When we had that one flipped around Sept. '07 it came back as a brand new unit and with a 1 yr warranty. My only afterthoughts now are that maybe it's all triggered off the serial #'s and mfg date. Since the unit was new-off-shelf and the serial # never tagged as a refurb/rebuild of any kind, their system still thinks it's 'new' and went off the mfg. date with the standard warranty they offer. Only 24 hours until we both gets ours back via FedEx and find out what's what! LOL On Thu, Mar 6, 2008 at 8:11 AM, PRoPHeTiZeR <prophetizer@wrup.net> wrote: well, i don't think they are allowed to do that by law, at least in the states PSCG Cleveland wrote: Well but it was a replacement tho... That's the trick. If I did that as a company I'd be more than happy to chop that sucker down to 90 days even on a new replacement product to get outta the other 9 months! It may have just been a fluke on that one, thankfully we haven't had that many floating around! On Wed, Mar 5, 2008 at 5:16 PM, PRoPHeTiZeR <prophetizer@wrup.net> wrote: that makes sense, i don't think they could actually take that warranty away on a new replacement box PSCG Cleveland wrote: And I added, on the one replacement box we got that just happened to be NEW (only like a couple weeks Mfg Date), they extended the warranty 1 year from that date. On this one in transit right now - less than 90 days, similar to what Proph said. Why those rat bastages! LOL Eh, I was thinking it was nearly suicide to guarantee a refurb'ed 360 for a year... I mean if your first dumped out near the end of the first year and you get a new one, 2nd year you're covered! And if it goes again... then you've got a 3 year 100% coverage warranty between the overlaps and the RRoD? Gimme that any day! I still don't get why MS doesn't directly offer an extended warranty on these stupid things... Guess they figured they'd make more in charging for repairs than they would getting people to hedge their bets with ext warranty dice rolls! Hmmm, business sense says... <buzzer> Wrong! $50 for 2 years (let's say) from 2 Million people is big bucks compared to all the rest of this. Least in my book. 'MS won't call you a liar and take it back'?? Ya, I'll believe it when I see it, I know 2 people who've had to have repairs out of warranty done and both did their best to get it in as a freebie - miserably failed. One was returned COD for the shipping costs and the other ended up being charged before they'd fix the problems it had. No 'grey area' or 'honor system' on the RRoD stuff, where's he getting that idea? And since we're only getting half the story, what's the babbling about warranties ending earlier than they should? MS clearly states 1 year on a new system, they were giving 1 year on replacement/refurb/fixed boxes as well (if they chopped that to 90 days quietly I wouldn't be shocked) and then it's 3 years from the manufacturing date on the rear for any RRoD's and I haven't seen a peep about that changing. MS's got enough going on not to be stupid and change that plan! They'd get lynched immediately. On Wed, Mar 5, 2008 at 9:16 AM, PRoPHeTiZeR <prophetizer@wrup.net> wrote: that i get, but i got my 360 at launch, so this may 29th 2008 date makes no sense actually, i'm lying, i called and asked them about it, they got it fixed on feb 29th, and they extend the original warranty by 90 days for any other defect, so may 29th makes sense. so if i have another issue besides rrod it's covered. i bet nobody knew that. they are also sending me back my same box, which i really like since it's lasted so long to begin with, and i don't have to worry about the crappy DRM shit John wrote: Because only the 3 year warranty only covers the RRoD. Everything else is covered under the 1-year warranty. Of course, if you just say you have the RRoD then they'll be forced to take your 360 back whether it actually does or not, and since it can be intermittent they're not going to call you a liar.
